Hope or Hype: Searching for Quality Reiki Information Online

Google finds over 21 million webpages that include the word "Reiki." Which ones provide quality information you can trust? Here are Chicago Healing Studio's favorite Reiki websites.

Unbiased Information and Scientific Research
We know Reiki works because we've felt the energy, watched the effects on clients, and had our pets beg for more treatment. But medical science has trouble measuring Reiki, leading to some skepticism about its effectiveness. The National Institutes of Health's National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine's Reiki Backgrounder makes it easy for laypeople and medical professionals to understand Reiki facts, theories, and controversies. NCCAM also provides information about ongoing Reiki clinical research.

News For and By the Reiki Community
The International Center for Reiki Training's website includes a wealth of articles about Reiki, many from their quarterly Reiki News Magazine. Most articles are contributed by Reiki practitioners and give insight into Reiki's impact in their training, practice, and everyday lives. The articles reflect the different ways practitioners experience Reiki - as light, heat, or vibration - and share case studies with very good outcomes from Reiki treatment. These anecdotes express the power and breadth of Reiki's capabilities, but you should not base your expectations on others' Reiki experiences.

Practitioner Locator
We know you'll choose Chicago Healing Studio for your Reiki treatment and training in the Chicago area. But who can you confidently recommend to out-of-town friends and family who want to try Reiki? The International Association of Reiki Professionals' Reiki Practitioner and Teacher Locator lets you search for IARP members by zip code. All members uphold the professional standards of the IARP Code of Ethics.

Advanced Reiki Training
The Reiki Council, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, brings experts from around the world to provide continuing education for Reiki practitioners. In April Chicago Healing Studio's Erik LaBelle will be getting his Master Certificate in Japanese Style Reiki at the Reiki Council. Owners Rick and Connie Vrenios have also developed the Reiki-ssage TM, Reiki-Reflex TM, and Reiki Facelift TM treatment systems.
